Jerry from work sent me this text the other day. It was way too good to not share.

I was reading this morning in Matthew and Revelation. In Rev 2:4, It talks about not forgetting our first love.

I have always pictured that as me forgetting to love God first. Today, the Lord allowed me to see it a little differently. He focused my attention on my understanding His love for me first. God, loving me with all my faults, sin, and ugliness. The gospel writer John wrote over and over that he was the disciple Jesus loved. He saw that God loved him. John wrote in John 3:16,17. God loves us so much He sent Jesus to save us and not to condemn us so we could be saved and be His children. I began to see Rev 2 with a different yet the same light. Matthew 3:16,17 the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus as a dove, then the Father said of Jesus, this is my Son whom I love and whom I am well pleased. Jesus had not even started His ministry yet, the Father establishes His love for Jesus. Matthew 4:3,6 the devil tempted Jesus with food and his identity in the Father. The devil's temptation had no hold on Jesus. He already knew the reality he was loved by the Father.

Matthew 17:5 Jesus is with Peter, James, and John. Peter in error tried to put Jesus on the same level as Moses and Elijah. As Great Men of God. Peter was reminded that The Father had established Jesus as the Son whom He loved and was well pleased with.

Long way to say. Jesus, God in the flesh got affirmed that He was loved. How much more do I need to know this truth and be established in this truth, I am loved.
