Healing the Father Wounds Part 4

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

There is a common theme that has been resonating in our fellowship in recent times. A topic that has invoked deep emotions and spurred soul-searching discussions. This issue is 'Father Wounds'. Many questions have been raised, and some still linger. "Is there hope for me?" "How do I get healed from my father wounds?"

These are a few of the questions that we have been grappling with. We have seen that father wounds are not unique to a particular group. They cut across all humanity. From biblical figures like Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, and David, we have seen that everyone has father wounds.

Understanding Father Wounds It's important to understand that father wounds are not just physical scars. They are deep-seated emotional and psychological scars that may affect an individual's perception of life. This is where the concept of the 'Tribal Brain' comes in, which is shaped in the first 7-10 years of life and influences how we see the world around us. Also known as the default mode network, the tribal brain is the recording you hear inside your head. It's automatic and is created to keep you from being voted off the island of social acceptance. However, the tribal brain is not truly who you are. It's merely a part of you. The executive brain, which is responsible for decision-making and selecting beliefs, is more of who you truly are.

Healing from Father Wounds Healing from father wounds demands a conscious effort to set aside the tribal brain and embrace the executive brain. This process involves recognizing the tribal brain for what it is, dismissing it, and spending time acknowledging who God says you are in Him. One of the key steps to healing is forgiveness. Verbalize forgiving your earthly father and lean on your Heavenly Father for the healing. Are you scared to confront the tape recorder in your brain? You're not alone. Many in our world are. But the good news is, that Jesus, the Great Physician, seeks to perform spiritual surgery on our wounded souls to help us overcome obstacles and be the true self He has made us to be on this earth.

Embracing Boldness and Self-awareness To be healed, we need boldness and self-awareness. The first real battle is allowing yourself to be self-aware without beating yourself up. In Christ, “we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith” to God our Father (Ephesians 3:12). This boldness is not an earthly trait but a supernatural gift from Him. It gives us the courage to allow Him the way into our hearts for healing.

Father God's Love Letter As part of the healing process, it's essential to understand and embrace the love of a Father. Below are two love letters from God the Father to his sons and daughters. May the words of these letters soak into your heart and remind you of your Heavenly Father's love for you. Know that God holds your life in the palm of His hand, and His plans for you are above all you could ask or imagine.

Father God’s Love Letter to His Daughter To My Precious Daughter, You are an absolute joy to my heart; a special gift that cannot be compared. I am so glad that you were born. I stand in awe of God’s goodness, that He brought you into our life! You will always hold a very precious place in my heart. Not only do I cherish you as my daughter, I am honored to be your father. You are a gift to me. With all my heart I want you to know that I adore you and treasure you as my princess. You are beautiful and a treasure from heaven. When you walk into the room, I see heaven rejoicing over who you are. I am also so deeply proud of you. Your life is a sign of God’s love and goodness. I want to honor you and communicate the treasure that you are. I want you to hear it regularly from me--may it never get old. I pray that you learn about God’s love by experiencing the love that I have for you. I love you so much; and to think, God loves you even more! God designed you for love and I pray that you always live with His love as your highest priority. May you delve deep into the vast seas of His affection for you by knowing that His love is unconditional and free. I pray that you see the value in who you are - that you would know you are beautiful and a princess to behold, that you are so precious in my eyes and in God's eyes. You have been ordained for a significant purpose and destiny on this planet. But most of all, I am just deeply honored to have you in my life! I want you to experience my love in such a way that you will easily know your Heavenly Father. I pray that you receive His love and walk in a passionate relationship with Him all the days of your life. Seeing you serve Him is the dream of my heart. Know that I am always here for you - to love you, guide you, and launch you into your destiny. I will be here for you always. I love you and I will always believe in you. With all my love, Your Dad

Father God’s Love Letter to His Son My Dearly Loved Son, I want you to know that I am so overjoyed to have you as a son. You have brought me such joy by simply being who you are. I am so proud to be your father and I want you to know that I will always be proud of you. From my heart I want you to hear these words, I love you. With that love, I want you to know that I will be here to support, guide, and help you in those times when you need advice or simply need an affirming word, reminding you that “you can make it.” I want you to always remember throughout your life that, I’ve got your back and I will be your biggest supporter. You are such a good son, a warrior, and a man of God. I believe in you and know you can break through barriers in life. I want you to know that I deeply desire for you to see the love of God the Father through me. May your heart be filled with the depth of God’s love as you receive my love. God designed you for love and I pray that you always live with His love as your highest priority. May you delve deep into the vast seas of His affection for you by knowing that His love is unconditional and free. May this love keep you from fear as you realize

deep in your heart that God has your life in the palm of His hand. May

His sacrificial love remind you to walk free from sin as you daily abide in Christ. I encourage you to dream big because you are in the hands of a massive God whose plans are above all you could ask or imagine. The sky is the limit, so be free to reach out for it. I want you to be secure and free to be you and not anyone else. Let God teach you who you are in Him, and don’t let anyone form you into a man made mold that is not a part of God’s precious design for you. And while you are living and moving throughout life, know that your Father in Heaven and your Father here on earth are so deeply pleased to call you, my child.

With all my love, Your Dad

The truth is, we repeat what we don't repair. In other words, we act out what we don’t work out. It's time to work out these wounds, confront them, and allow Jesus, the Great Physician, to heal us. Remember, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways"

(1 Corinthians 13:11).

LET THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVE YOU A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING

OF A GOOD GOOD DADDY GOD!!
