Father Wounds (part 3 summary)

This sermon focused on the concept of healing from 'Father Wounds, illustrating the importance of allowing oneself to be touched and healed by 'Father God' our Heavenly

Papa. It discusses the emotional consequences of such wounds and emphasizes the role of trust and faith in the healing process.

  • The sermon started with an emphatic statement about the importance of allowing oneself to experience healing through an intimate relationship with 'Father God'.

  • It then discusses the idea of 'Father Wounds', describing them as feelings of being unlovable, unworthy, inadequate, and not good enough. These wounds can manifest as abandonment, rejection, anger, resentment, insecurity, emotional numbness, trust issues, and struggles with self-worth.

  • The presentation highlights the qualities of a good father figure, including protection, defense, blessing, meaningful touch, provision, love, honor for the mother, and understanding.

  • Emphasis is placed on the importance of trust, defined as making something important to you vulnerable to the actions of someone else. Trust is considered integral to the healing process.

1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds, you have been healed.”

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

  • oppressed

means bruised, crushed, and wounded. Another translation : The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are broken-hearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains,

  • It draws attention to the societal implications of fatherless homes, including increased rates of youth suicides, homelessness, behavioral disorders, high school dropouts, and chemical abuse.

  • Be encouraged to allow 'Jesus, the Great Physician', to heal their wounds. It encourages boldness to allow healing and self-awareness with grace for yourself.

In Christ, “we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith” to God our Father (Ephesians 3:12)

  • God has made you bold inside with that new heart and that new identity.

  • He has given us the boldness to TRUST Him and give access into our hearts for healing.

Hebrews 4:16 Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.
